Ignatios Fotiou is a MBA graduate in Gies College of Business in University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. His first degree is School of Engineering, Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineer, University of Patras.
He is the Director of Thinking Out of the Box Engineering Applications (TOBEA) founded in 2012, focusing on designing, manufacturing and marketing mechanical applications for improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. Its benchmark is SEATRAC a non-permanent device for autonomous access to the sea for people with disabilities that holds Greek, European and US patents. After distributing products to Greece, Cyprus and Italy, the company has signed distribution agreements with partners in Dubai, Sweden, and Spain. In 2013, TOBEA was awarded with the first prize for innovation at the second competition “Greece Innovates!” sponsored by SEB and Eurobank, in 2015 TOBEA was awarded national champion on innovation on EBA (European Business Awards). In 2018, he was awarded national champion in the Chivas Venture social entrepreneur competition. In 2022, TOBEA was awarded “Startup of the year” by the ACCI.
He is one of the co-founders of Adamant Composites Ltd, a startup company that provides the aerospace industry with high-added-value quality products and services for nano-enabling composite materials throughout their product cycle.
